About Kuzmin

14 YEARS IN COLOUR

Alexander ‘Sasha’ Kuzmin — Requiem Tattoo Studio, Newport.

I have been tattooing since 2012, and for most of that time I have been chasing one thing: colour that still reads as colour years after it has healed. Colour realism is unforgiving. It punishes shortcuts in saturation, in contrast, in the way a piece is planned across the body, and it shows up every one of them in the healed result rather than on the day.

So the way I work is deliberate. Projects are planned properly and tattooed in full days, often several days in a row, because that is what large scale colour work actually needs. Where I can, I come back for a second pass. It lifts saturation, deepens the contrast and lets me pull effects out of a piece that simply are not possible in a single sitting. It is the difference between a tattoo that photographs well in the studio and one that still stops people in ten years.

I am based at Requiem Tattoo Studio in Newport, Shropshire, and I take on a small number of projects at a time. That is not exclusivity for its own sake. A project I am genuinely excited about, with a client I enjoy spending three days in a room with, is a better tattoo than one I have taken on out of obligation. Both of us can feel the difference, and so can everyone who sees it afterwards.

I pride myself on healed work. If you want to know whether I am the right artist for your idea, look at the healed gallery first, then read the pricing guide, and then apply.
